Alexis C. Lewis, National Science Foundation, Deputy Division Director for the Division of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation in the Engineering Directorate
At NSF, Dr. Lewis has managed programs in Advanced Manufacturing, Materials Processing, and Data Initiatives, and participates in Foundation-wide efforts on Artificial Intelligence, Cyberinfrastructure, Public Access, and the Materials Genome Initiative. Prior to joining NSF, Dr. Lewis was a staff scientist at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC, in the Materials Science and Technology Directorate. Her work at NRL included experimental and computational characterization of structural alloys for Naval applications, with an emphasis on advanced 3D characterization techniques, quantitative crystallography, and data management. Dr. Lewis holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.
