McElvain receives $2,500 STEM Forward award

Congratulations to undergraduate Kelly McElvain, who is currently pursuing undergraduate degrees in biomedical engineering and physics. In May, McElvain was one of six current or college-bound students in the Milwaukee area to receive a $2,500 STEM Forward scholarship, which encourages talented students to maintain high standards of academic achievement and service.

McElvain—who is a member of two UWM student organizations, Engineers Without Borders and the Physics and Engineering Club—traces her passion for STEM to growing up in a family that includes several working engineers and a grandmother who is a mathematician.
