Lubar Center

Founding donor Sheldon Lubar unveils plans for the Lubar Center for Entrepreneurship at UWM.

By 2017, UW-Milwaukee will have a home for its growing slate of entrepreneurial programs and events. The Lubar Center for Entrepreneurship and Welcome Center provides an address for collaboration between education and businesses that will transform the region’s economy.

The new facility, which will double as UWM’s welcome center for visitors, is under construction at the northwest corner of E. Kenwood Boulevard and N. Maryland Avenue – in the heart of campus.

Funded by a gift from Milwaukee businessman Sheldon Lubar and his wife, Marianne, the building will be a place where students, business leaders, faculty and entrepreneurs can meet and work on building new enterprises. Included are classrooms for “Ideas Challenge” (experiential learning) courses and “Innovation Labs” that provide resources for students to prototype products and software.
