IEEE awards Hanson top prize for paper

George Hanson

In September, IEEE selected George Hanson, professor emeritus, electrical engineering, to receive the 2021 IEEE Antennas and Propogation Edward E. Altshuler Prize Paper Award.

Hanson’s invited paper for the Antennas and Propagation Society magazine– Aspects of Quantum Electrodynamics Compared to the Classical Case: Similarity and Disparity of Quantum and Classical Electromagnetics– introduced quantum electromagnetics to researchers coming from a classical electromagnetics perspective.

The award will be presented to Hanson (in -person or virtual) during December’s IEEE’s International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting in Singapore. Complete list of awards here.

Congratulations, George!
