SUMMARY:Translating Assistive Robotics into Practice: Knowledge Translation Symposium 2026
DESCRIPTION:A one-day symposium bringing together people with disabilities\, caregivers\, clinicians\, researchers\, industry\, policymakers and payers to move the mR2A robotic assistive arm from the lab into everyday life. \nThe mR2A is a multifunctional robotic assistive arm developed at UWM with NIDILRR support for power-wheelchair users with limited upper-limb function. This symposium is part of a knowledge-translation project to move it from the laboratory into everyday use. We will share the research and evidence to date\, hear from users\, caregivers\, clinicians and advocates about what real-world adoption takes\, and work through the regulatory\, commercialization and reimbursement pathways together. \nWho should attend\n\nPeople with disabilities and assistive-technology users\, and their families and caregivers\nClinicians and rehabilitation professionals: PT\, OT\, PM&R\, nursing and assistive technology professionals (ATPs)\nResearchers\, faculty and students in engineering\, rehabilitation and health sciences\nIndustry\, entrepreneurs and technology-transfer professionals\nPolicymakers\, payers\, insurers and disability advocacy organizations\n\nFree\, but space is limited. \nRegister by November 6 please\, so we know what lunch count is. \nA virtual option to attend is also available\, at the registration link. \n

SUMMARY:Engineering and Computer Science Information Session & Unplugged Tour with the Dean
DESCRIPTION:Prospective Students and Guests: Join us for a College of Engineering & Applied Science information session. You’ll connect with an expert academic advisor and explore how our programs set students up for success—in the classroom and beyond. \nOur small-group sessions mean your questions will get answered. Compare majors\, learn about paid internships and co-ops (and how they differ)\, and discover hands-on research opportunities available to undergraduates. \nWhat’s an Unplugged Tour With the Dean? \nAs part of the session\, you’ll join our dean for a special behind-the-scenes tour of labs\, witness a demonstration or two\, and get to see our college from another perspective. \nYou can also add a UWM campus tour to your session–available when you register.
