SUMMARY:Engineering and Computer Science Information Session & Unplugged Tour with the Dean
DESCRIPTION:Curious about what it’s really like to study engineering or computer science at UWM? Join us for a College of Engineering & Applied Science information session\, where you’ll connect one-on-one with an expert academic advisor and explore how our programs set students up for success—both in the classroom and beyond. \nOur small-group sessions mean your questions take center stage. Compare majors\, learn about paid internships and co-ops (and how they differ)\, and discover hands-on research opportunities available to undergraduates. Come see how CEAS can help you build your future. \nThis session includes an “Unplugged tour with the Dean.” You can also pair your session with a UWM campus tour.

SUMMARY:Transforming Waste Glass into Value: Ground-Glass SCMs in Portland Cement Concrete
DESCRIPTION:All industry\, faculty\, students and staff are welcome to this technical seminar held via Zoom on Friday\, April 10 at 12 pm CST.\nDr. Prasad Rangaraju is a Professor of Civil Engineering at Clemson University and Director of the the Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMART) Lab. His expertise focuses on cementitious materials\, supplementary cementitious materials\, specialty concretes\, and low-carbon concrete technologies. Before joining Clemson\, he served as a Senior Research Engineer with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Dr. Rangaraju holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University\, is a registered Professional Engineer\, an ACI Fellow\, and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications while contributing to ASTM and AASHTO standards. \nDr. Rangaraju’s talk will cover the scientific basis for glass-based pozzolans\, including their influence on hydration kinetics\, fresh-state rheology\, and long-term mechanical and durability properties. It will also discuss emerging research\, field applications\, and the evolving role of ground-glass SCMs as a viable and scalable component of next-generation concrete materials. \nEmail Iman Aghayan at aghayan@uwm.edu\, Associate Director\, CAN for the Zoom link. \nCAN Technical Seminar – Friday\, April 10
