The Materials Science & Engineering PhD Qualifying Examination is used to ensure that PhD students have sufficient depth and breadth of fundamental materials engineering concepts. The exam is given twice per year, early in the Fall and Spring semesters, and is graded on a pass-fail basis. Guidelines and sample copies of old exams are provided below.
