Materials engineers create new materials from natural resources to improve our lives. They work with the medical field to devise modern solutions such as fillings for our teeth. They design materials for the aerospace industry that make planes faster, safer, and cheaper to make. Metals engineers developed “metals with a memory” that make anti-scald shower devices possible. And they are working to eliminate harmful gas emissions through improved materials processing.

A materials engineering major from UWM prepares students to change the world in innumerable ways.
