{"id":6761,"date":"2023-07-17T13:17:29","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T18:17:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/education\/?post_type=program&#038;p=6761"},"modified":"2025-02-12T14:06:45","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T20:06:45","slug":"post-baccalaureate-program","status":"publish","type":"program","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/education\/academics\/world-language-bs\/post-baccalaureate-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Post-Baccalaureate Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n    <div class=\"uwm-l-container--base uwm-u-py-80\">\n        \n\n<div class=\"uwm-l-row\">\n<div id=\"primary\" class=\"uwm-l-col content-area\">\n<div id=\"main\" class=\"site-main\">\n\t<header class=\"page-header\">\n\t\t<h1 class=\"entry-title heading-separator\">\n\t\t\tPost-Baccalaureate Program\t\t<\/h1>\n\t<\/header>\n\t\n\t\n\n<p class=\"lead-in\">The World Language Post-Baccalaureate program has many different program options leading to teaching certification and licensure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-option-1-major\">Option 1: Major<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The PK-12 World Language Certification Program (Major) is for post-baccalaureate students who are interested in becoming a PK-12 WL Teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-option-2-minor\">Option 2: Minor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The PK-12 WL Language Certification Program (Minor) is for post-baccalaureate individuals who have a current Wisconsin teacher certification or are in the process of completing a teacher certification program and want to add an additional certification in PK-12 WL Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-option-3-wl-license-expansion\">Option 3: WL License Expansion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The PK-12 World Language Post-Baccalaureate Program Expansion pipeline is for individuals who have a current Wisconsin WL Teacher license in specific grade bands (birth to 3rd, 1st to 8th, 4-12th, 9-12th) and would like to expand their WL license to include additional grade bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading default\" id=\"h-career-opportunities\">Career Opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This teacher certification allows program completers to work as a PK-12 World Language teacher\/specialist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students enrolled in the program can also add the PK-12 ESL Teaching Certification. Students enrolled in the World Language Spanish certification program can also add the Bilingual License. The addition of this license will allow students to teach Spanish for Native Speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, some students may be eligible for a second degree in the language studied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"has-alpha-channel-opacity uwm-c-hr--thick\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-p-tabs\" data-tabs-prefix-class=\"uwm-p-tabs\"><ul class=\"uwm-p-tablist\" data-hx=\"h2\"><li class=\"uwm-p-tablist--item\"><a href=\"#tab-m8d3-curriculum\" class=\"uwm-p-tablist--link\">Curriculum<\/a><\/li><li class=\"uwm-p-tablist--item\"><a href=\"#tab-m8d3-faculty-staff\" class=\"uwm-p-tablist--link\">Faculty\/Staff<\/a><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent\">\n<div id=\"tab-m8d3-curriculum\" class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent--pane\">\n<p>In this program, candidates will explore the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Linguistics and Grammar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biliteracy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theories of language acquisition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Politics of language acquisition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching strategies to support reading, writing, speaking and listening in the target language<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The inclusion of culture as the basis for language acquisition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching methods to encourage oral proficiency in the target language<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, candidates will have the opportunity to work with WL students in multiple and diverse field placements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"tab-m8d3-faculty-staff\"
