class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent\">\n<div id=\"tab-kvpo-about\" class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent--pane\">\n<p>With a focus on urban issues, the Community Engagement Strategies certificate provides excellent preparation for students who are interested in becoming community organizers, youth and social workers, politicians, community researchers and nonprofit administrators. It\u2019s also useful for students interested in specializing in other areas, such as international, environmental or union organizing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You may begin the program by enrolling in ED POL 111. No separate application is required.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"tab-kvpo-curriculum\" class=\"uwm-p-tabcontent--pane\">\n<p>If you\u2019re seeking an undergraduate degree at UWM, you\u2019ll receive the certificate upon completion of your degree. If you already have an undergraduate degree, you\u2019ll receive the certificate once you complete the program requirements. Students without a bachelor\u2019s degree receive a certificate from the UWM School of Continuing Education after completing the program\u2019s required coursework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-program-requirements\">Program Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students enrolled in the Community Engagement Strategies program must complete at least 21 credits of courses within the guidelines provided. You may take only 12 credits from a single department, and only 6 credits out of the 12 available for elective courses (components 3 and 4) from a single department. If you wish to enroll (or have enrolled) in programs offered by other groups, including unions, environmental organizations and others, you may petition to the Program Committee for approval. You must achieve a 2.50 GPA in courses required for the certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"uwm-u-flex uwm-u-flex--wrap uwm-u-flex--left\">\n<a class=\"uwm-c-button uwm-c-button--outline uwm-u-mr-20 uwm-u-mb-20\" href=\"https:\/\/catalog.uwm.edu\/community-engagement-professions\/education\/educational-policy-community-studies\/community-engagement-undergraduate-certificate\/#requirementstext\" rel=\"\">View Requirements<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-external-training-program\">External Training Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating in a community engagement&nbsp;training program provided by an external group allows students to meet a diverse range of community organizers from different contexts across the United States.
