Christie Peters

Christie Peters, serves as the Director for the Office of Clinical Experiences. She oversees operation of the Office of Clinical Experiences and strives to provide high quality clinical experiences, in diverse urban communities that supports UWM teacher candidates' learning. In addition, Peters teaches the course 'Wisconsin Foundations of Reading'. The course focuses on reading development in grades PreK-8 to further support students as they strive to pass the Foundations of Reading Test. Prior to her role in the Office of Clinical Experiences, Peters helped prepare pre-service teachers as she served as the Elementary Education Program Director at UWM. She taught undergraduate courses, supervised student teachers and mentored students while they worked towards certification.

Before coming to UWM, Peters taught elementary students in Milwaukee Public Schools for ten years and served as a literacy interventionist for the Literacy and Math Center at Cardinal Stritch University. Peters received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her masters degree in Reading and Learning Disabilities from Cardinal Stritch University.
