I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have taught for nearly 40 years in a variety of settings from a small town of 110 people in rural northwestern Wisconsin to Gary, Indiana, finishing my classroom teaching with 22 years in the Milwaukee Public School system.
I have taught literacy courses in the MCEA and Early Childhood Programs for many years and actually consider my retirement from MPS a "transition" that allowed me to spend more time teaching at UWM and working with preservice teachers. My passions are literacy and teaching young children and I am privileged to share my knowledge and experience with young women and men just entering the profession. I learn and grow along with them each semester. I currently teach the Primary Literacy course and supervise the Advanced Field experience before student teaching.
In my "spare" time, I love to knit and read and travel.
