Leanne M. Evans

Leanne M. Evans teaches courses in early childhood education, specializing in literacy and language development. Her teaching and research interests include literacy development, second language acquisition, and dual language programming in urban education environments. She is particularly focused on the experiences of teachers in the context of education reform and how these experiences can inform curriculum development and instructional practices that promote optimal outcomes in diverse early childhood classrooms.

Dr. Evans earned her B.S. in elementary education from the University of North Texas. She completed her M.Ed. at Carthage College and her Ph.D. in Urban Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She also has extensive experience teaching in a dual language elementary education program as a literacy and reading specialist.
