Kathy L. Berry is the Certification Officer for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s (UWM) teacher certification and licensing programs, as well as the Director of the Education Resource Center, both located in the School of Education (SOE). As the Certification Officer, Ms. Berry coordinates and manages the procedures for licensure for the School of Library & Information Studies, Peck School of the Arts, Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, College of Health Sciences, and the School of Education. She serves as UWM’s liaison to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin school districts, out-of-state education departments, Educational Testing Services, as well as other agencies, to communicate and exchange information regarding teachers, PK-12 administrators and pupil service professionals.
Ms. Berry oversees the Education Resource Center which provides support for the Praxis/Core exams, and assistance for students interested in additional support. In 2009, Ms. Berry was presented the Outstanding Woman of Color in Education award by University of Wisconsin System, and in 2010 began serving as an ombudsperson for UWM. She received her M.A. degree from Jackson State University.
