DESCRIPTION:PIECE Inclusion Speaker Series: Co-Teaching and Co-Planning\nDate: Saturday\, October 12th\, 2024\nTime: 9 AM – Noon\nLocation: La Escuela Fratney 3255 N Fratney St\, Milwaukee\, WI 53212 \nWorkshop #1: “Inclusive SPED Support in the Classroom”   \nPresenters:  Abigail DeCook – Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist at Lincoln Avenue School and writer for The Informed SLP \nThis presentation is delivered by the speech language pathologist at Lincoln Ave School in MPS and covers the importance of inclusion in the classroom as well as current in class examples around co-teaching models\, teaching strategies for students with communication differences and how to build inclusive communities.   \nWorkshop #2: “Enhancing Collaboration between Classroom and ESL Teachers” \nPresenters:  Nora O’Connell  and Lucia Segovia- ESL and 3rd Grade Teacher at Lincoln Ave\nThis short discussion is led by two language teachers with different specialties that will show how they collaborate to plan for and teach English Language Learners. Their co-planning and co-teaching strategies help increase students’ confidence in the 4 domains of language (listening\, speaking\, reading\, writing) while engaging them in academic content (Science and Social Studies).   \nWorkshop #3:  “Impactando la Educación Temprana más allá de Matemáticas con Counting Collections” (“Beyond Math: Elevating Early Education with Counting Collections”) \nPresenters: Elsa Cramer\, Virginia Gomez Arroyo\, Reyna Rodriguez – K4 and K5 Teachers at La Escuela Fratney This bilingual workshop will provide an overview of the “counting collections” strategy for early childhood classrooms (K3\, K4\, and K5)\, focusing on its use in multicultural and inclusive settings. Participants will explore practical examples\, material suggestions\, and how the strategy aligns with Wisconsin and Common Core State Standards.
