WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

This past week I did not have any regular monthly meetings since I was out of town most of the week to attend my daughter’s master’s degree graduation.

Barbara Daley Retirement Party

On Friday evening, I attended Barb Daley’s retirement party at the Hefter Center. It was a really nice way to say good bye to Barb. I want to thank Jaclyn Stoczanyn and Simone Conceicao for organizing Barb’s retirement party. The Chancellor and Provost attended and shared their thoughts about Barb’s contributions to UWM and the School of Education. I shared how much I appreciated Barb’s support during my transition as well as her on-going support. She was always available to provide a listening ear and greater context into issues I was encountering. I will miss her presence and analytical calming influence. I wish Barb all the best as she graduates to the next phase of her life. I know she will enjoy traveling to spend time with her daughters and mother.

JUNE 7TH STAFF PROJECT DAY

On Friday, June 7th, the Academic Affairs staff will be taking time to address some of the projects that they have had to put on the back burner during the year. They will be in their offices but not available for the day-to-day tasks that they normally do. The staff appreciates your understanding and support as they complete some of those bigger projects that have been keeping them up at night. Of course, if an emergency arises, we will be available.

ALYSSA MOLINSKI, SOE GRADUATE STUDENT

Alyssa Molinski, one of our early childhood undergraduate students was featured in this article. Alyssa has been an active leader on campus having served as Student Body President. She will be student teaching this coming fall semester and graduating in December 2019.

KUDOS TO SOE FACULTY

This past week I received several unsolicited kudos from students identifying a SOE faculty member who made a difference in their education at UWM. The two SOE faculty members I heard about this past week were Angel Hessel and Jenny Brownson. Both were identified by students as people who went the extra distance to make a difference. Thank you Angel and Jenny for what you do for our students. It is always gratifying to hear first-hand accounts about the great job our faculty are doing to impact students in a positive manner.

DATES TO REMEMBER
