WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

This week I had regular monthly meetings with Adrienne Woods, Stephen Wester, Barb Daley, and my regular weekly meeting with the Deans. This was a short week for me as I flew to CA to attend my son’s master’s degree graduation at the U. of Redlands.

CMSER Luncheon

On Monday at lunch, I briefly attended the CMSER luncheon on the 2nd floor. Every year they have a lot of delicious food and holiday cheer. I want to thank Peggy Kuhnz for inviting me to their annual luncheon.

APBC Meeting

After the luncheon, I attended the APBC meeting. The APBC had an extended conversation on a number of budget related issues like faculty summer compensation, chair compensation, and ways to generate revenue. I shared with APBC the concern about our Marginal Tuition Revenue and its decrease this fall. That is why the spring 2018 enrollment and semester credit generation are critical to any potential flexibility we may be able to give departments regarding workload. After the new year, I plan to talk to the chairs and work with them to see what is possible moving forward.

Honors Cord Commencement Ceremony

On Monday evening, I participated in the Honors Cord ceremony at Zelazo Center. This is a nice event that recognizes all students who earn a gpa of 3.5 or above during their entire degree at UWM.

December Graduation Ceremony

On Sunday morning, I participated in the December Graduation ceremony. Graduation is always one of my favorite events of the year. The energy in the arena is always uplifting. The SOE was well-represented with doctoral graduates as well as master’s and bachelor degree recipients. I saw Leigh Wallace, Nicole Beier, Stephen Wester, Barb Daley, Bo Zhang, and Barbara Bales.
