It allows research expenditures and trips that would otherwise be impossible. We deeply thank Yoshio and all the many dedicated alums and friends who have contributed to the Fund. Here\u2019s &hellip; <\/div><\/div><\/li>\n<li><div class=\"post-content\"><a class=\"post-title\" href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/economics\/ethan-ballou-wins-the-perlman-paper-prize\/\">Ethan Ballou wins the Perlman Paper Prize<\/a><time datetime=\"2026-09-10T11:55:10-05:00\" class=\"post-date\">September 10, 2026<\/time><div class=\"post-excerpt\">The Richard Perlman Prize for an Outstanding Paper in Labor Economics was won by graduate student Ethan Ballou.\u00a0 His work uses modern machine learning tools to find potential determinants of earnings risk.\u00a0 The Perlman Prize was first given in 1999 and recognizes the long history of strong labor economics research within the Department.\u00a0 Before his &hellip; <\/div><\/div><\/li>\n<li><div class=\"post-content\"><a class=\"post-title\" href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/economics\/the-holahan-teaching-prize-goes-to-labesh-kumar\/\">The Holahan Teaching Prize goes to Labesh Kumar.<\/a><time datetime=\"2026-09-09T13:35:08-05:00\" class=\"post-date\">September 9, 2026<\/time><div class=\"post-excerpt\">Labesh Kumar won the 2026 William L. Holahan Prize for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student. First given in 2014, the prize recognizes the graduate student who excels in teaching as determined by faculty committee recommendation and by student evaluations.
