Ching-Hong Yang, Professor of Biological Science and Microbiology has been elected as MIDD member. Dr. Yang brings a wealth of microbiology knowledge to the MIDD team that include targeting of bacterial virulence factors. This new approach stops the infection rather than the survival of the bacteria thus reducing the likelihood of bacterial resistance. This new approach has been demonstrated successfully in plants and is currently investigated in mammalian pathogens.
