The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) has an immediate opening for an outstanding candidate for a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher in its Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and MIDD. The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in chemistry or biochemistry with hands on experience in mass spectrometry for proteomics and metabolomics especially in matrix-assisted laser desorption and electrospray ionization in conjunction with triple quad and TOF ion separation. A strong understanding of drug discovery and drug development is preferred as well as the ability to work across disciplines of chemistry and biological sciences and communicate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
Under the supervision of Drs. Stafford, Geissinger and Arnold, the incumbent is expected to seek opportunities to establish a portfolio of projects through interactions with collaborators at UWM, other local universities such as Marquette, Concordia, and the Medical College of Wisconsin, as well as local companies and national and international collaborators. In addition, the candidate is expected to be an expert resource for faculty, post-doctoral researchers, and students.
The Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher will be in charge of the daily operations of the recently established Department’s Shimadzu Laboratory for Advanced Applied and Analytical Chemistry that include new LC-MS/MS, LC-IT-TOF, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometers. It is expected that the successful candidate will support early stage investigations leading to extramural funding, support by local industries, and strong ties to the local medical and chemical sector. This is a two-year appointment with opportunities for advancement into other academic positions. The salary will be $55,000-$65,000 dependent on experience.
