Bio

Jennifer Brockman is s design student currently attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a senior in the Design and Visual Communication program, previously referred to as graphic design. She is currently residing in West Bend, Wisconsin.

Jennifer had a love for art since she was young. She received her artistic drive from her parents, Pamela and David Markgraf. Her father had ink in his blood. He had taken over his father’s printing company, appropriately named MarkGraphics and worked in printing until he returned to college at the age of 35 to graduate from MSOE 5 years later with an engineering degree. Her mother had worked in the printing and marketing field her entire life for many firms in and around the Milwaukee area. Always interested in drawing and design starting as far back as elementary school, her skills branched out as more design courses were offered through high school. By the time she was a senior, she had taken every art class available and excelled in all of them. Jennifer then began work as a CAN at a nursing home and found a love for caregiving. She started college at the age of 24 as a nursing student due to the fondness for care, but realized shortly after her passion for art to much stronger. When she realized that her true desire for a career was undeniably in the art field, it was then that she changed her major to graphic design.

Now a senior, she has become proficient in Adobe programs and has found a love for typography. During her third year at UW-M, she found her niche in typography, particularly in hand drawn text, and projects involving marketing/advertising techniques, as she believes strongly that designing for a demographic involves empathizing with the consumer. Jennifer has also tried her hand in digital studio practice, which helped her gain experience with audio and visual software to create videos and use sound manipulation. Outside of school, she currently undertakes commission work for companies such as Mayline and has also designed invitations and programs for several weddings, including her own in June of 2015 when she married Jeremy Brockman after 11 short years together. These extracurricular activities have given her the opportunity to do the two things she loves most; designing for a client according to their specifications and using hand drawn typography.

Jennifer’s aspirations for the future revolve around working for an advertising agency or marketing company in the design department after moving to Nevada. Her goal is to one day be an assistant creative director or creative director in advertising and marketing due to her passion for designing for and alongside clients.

Description

Halo is an app that assists with caregiving. It asks the user questions about the recipient and takes those answers to create a task list and care schedule. Essentially, you could put Halo in the hands of any caregiver and they would be able to provide safe, affordable, personalized and professional level care whether they are certified nursing assistants or not.

Mission

The ultimate goal is to build and maintain a reputation of trust within the caregiving community. This will be achieved by keeping the service operating within the high standards Halo has for caregiving while not forgetting to empathize with caregivers, care recipients, and families, and to always strive to improve caregiving wherever, whenever, and however possible.

Vision

I wish to see Halo in the hands of every caregiver possible in order to improve the quality of caregiving.
