Bio

Originally from Janesville, Wisconsin, Betsy Cook resides on the east side of Milwaukee. Despite living in the frozen tundra, she enjoys all of the seasons, except the last dreary month of March. She relishes the sunny days of fall with the sun shining through the multi-colored trees. Her idea of a perfect date would be October 1, because its not too hot, not too cold and all you need is a light jacket. When she’s not out exploring Milwaukee’s landscape with her camera, you can find her cuddled up on the couch watching DVDs from her extensive collection.

She is working on her BFA in Design and Visual Communications along with her minor in Journalism, Advertising and Media Studies at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. In the future she is looking forward to developing her aesthetics and communication through design, as well as doubling her Pixar movie collection.

She enjoys many different forms of visual arts from digital and hand illustrations to graphic design and filmmaking. The many different media forms provide a better understanding of one’s self as well as varying perspectives on the world. When she is in need of a break or when she is trying to focus, Betsy turns to sketching or painting her toe nails and shaking her booty to the sounds of 2000s punk-pop. She finds this helps her relax and lets her ideas flow more freely.

Throughout her experiences in the graphic design program, Betsy has refined her problem-solving skills, which is one of the main components in the design process. Being a team player and good listener has helped her whilst collaborating with her peers. From freelance work for friends and family to interning for an advertising company, Betsy has gained experience in both creative and business fields. Some of her main goals for her future graphic design career include creating an app and website, designing movie posters, writing and illustrating a children’s book, as well as reuniting My Chemical Romance.
