Bio

Hello! My name is Ashley Steinberg. I am an undergraduate student of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, pursuing a double major in design and visual communication and the Japanese language. As uncommon a pairing as these focus’ may be, to me the two go hand in hand. Recently, I returned from an eleven-month exchange program with Chiba University in Japan, where I studied the Japanese language and explored Japanese design. During this time I was able to take a few classes related to design, and network with fellow international design colleges from around the world. Since May 2012, have worked for university housing at UWM as a graphic artist. This position has provided me with countless opportunities to sharpen my skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign while translating student and professional staff’s needs into successful creative work while making difficult decisions under strict time constraints. This position also allows me the creative freedom to experiment with different styles of design, as well as incorporate my interest in calligraphy. My interest in, and how I practice calligraphy reflects my creative process. In order to create a successful product, I must practice and do thorough research before beginning the work, and once there has been enough preparation I am able to effectively complete the work. I believe that good relations in any professional situation is the foundation of successful work, and I always strive to be kind, and do my absolute best for my colleagues, clients and collaborators in every aspect my work.

Matthew Mountin
Matthew is the Outreach Coordinator for University Housing at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Matt is the father of two young girls and cares deeply about their future. For his undergraduate degree, Matt attended Marquette University in Milwaukee where he was a residential assistant in the residence halls. During this time, he had insight into his resident’s academic lives and how their standard education experiences led them to Marquette. Matt has provided me with valuable insight and perspective throughout my design process.

Katie Nacerino
Katie is a 27-year-old newlywed based in New York State. For her undergrad, Katie did not feel content pursing the degree that her parents convinced her would be most practical for her future career, and decided to instead pursue her passion for cooking and baking at her local culinary institute. Katie is an example of how young students can be successful and lead a happy life pursing their talents. Hypothetically she would be a member of the community who would offer baking classes to youth in the community (if the app were to expand to New York).

Manuel Kniepe
Manuel is a Photography student based out of Cologne, Germany. Manuel has extensive experience developing websites for his various projects, small photography companies as well as his own website. Manuel has worked with clients both nationally and internationally and can offer helpful advice in launching a project as well as website development.

Kelly Merole
Kelly is a recent Graphic Design graduate of Parsons New School for Design in New York City. She has experience developing apps and would offer assistance in the development of this project. Kelly has been helpful in the development of my application.
