Bio

Kayti is a 22 year-old graphic designer, problem solver, and people-person from Milwaukee, WI. She is inspired by people, passions and culture, with a strong determination to change the world, even in some small way. She hopes to use her skills in design to bring happiness to others and impact lives. Currently attending University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, she is finishing up her classes as a Design and Visual Communications student, hoping to one day have her own business doing freelance design and getting to travel around the world, meeting people and sharing experiences.

Some of her experience includes designing for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the e-NABLE community, and other freelance odds and ends for clients. She is skilled in many Adobe programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Premiere, After Effects and Audition. Her experience has helped shape her into the designer she is and further hopes to be. She sees design as a never-ending, creative road; A road that allows her to learn and grow and solve and create and give back, all things Kayti loves to do. When she is not designing, her time is spent teaching yoga, being a nanny, cooking, dancing and getting in a good laugh with friends.

Molly Johnson
Molly is my little sister and is the heart and sole of this project’s existence. Molly is living with Bi-Polar Disorder and the person I am essentially the reason I was interested in researching this topic and coming up with a solution to help. She has expressed to me first-hand examples, experiences and stories about living with Bi-Polar disorder.

Mary Lou Johnson
Mary Lou is my mother. She also plays a very important role for the construction of Bloom. She is both a caretaker and advocate for my sister, making her position one that would highly benefit from an app like Bloom. She has provided me with lots of new information and knowledge she’s gained along the way, as well as experiences throughout her journey.

Christopher Willey
Christopher Willey is an artistic genius and tech-savvy professor at UW-Milwaukee. He taught me a lot about Adobe Audition, Premiere and After Effects this semester to help me with my dynamic story for this class. With his guidance and support, I was able to make a video that otherwise, I wouldn’t have had the tools to do.

Bloom

Description

Bloom is a mobile application which will revolutionize the lives of those living with Bi-Polar disorder, also known as manic depressive illness. Bi-Polar disorder affects more than just the person receiving the diagnosis. That’s why our app extends itself to be utilized by family members and loved ones, as well.

Bloom offers a safe space, free from societal judgment, in which users have the ability to start conversations, provide advice, offer and find support, and share their experiences.

We are a social networking system with tools to communicate openly and confidentially, as well as instruments to build a personal profile where passions and inspirations are shared. We also incorporate a mood chart to track your daily emotions and a crisis form to have important contacts readily available in case of an emergency. This is what sets Bloom apart. We believe everyone is worthy of a life of good health, happiness and love. You are not alone and together we connect, empower, and flourish.

Mission

Bloom assists in building a community among people living with Bi-Polar disorder, their families and loved ones, with the tools to start conversations, provide advice, offer and find support, and share their experiences.

Vision

Bloom helps all people living with Bi-Polar disorder, their families and loved ones, become members of a supportive community, maintain happiness, and live a better, more fulfilled life.
