Bio

Masouma Aldar is a Design and Visual Communication student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, graduating in 2018. She studied English language and literature at college in Saudi Arabia. Masouma is a lifelong learner who pursues knowledge for personal and professional growth. Her intellectual curiosity enables her to learn from and about people.

Masouma likes to design book illustrations, book covers, posters, characters and personas. She loves stories that she could tell through visual narratives, a challenge Masouma enjoys doing. It’s an opportunity for her to create unique designs out of people’s stories for everyone to experience. Her goal is to see the individuals and businesses she does work for flourish and prosper.

She likes reading obscure novels, novellas, and stories in general. For her, it’s like sifting through the sands looking for gold! Masouma never knows what she’ll end up with; however, she’s certain of one thing, their covers aren’t the best way to judge them! It’s the first chapter.

Description

Through the Veils of Abyss is a visual narrative in the form of a pc/mac game that puts players in the role of a boy who experiences life through war, loss, transition and trauma. The game’s primary audience are adults who live in areas where refugees would be relocated. The secondary audience are people who enjoy story-rich games. There are two aims of creating this game; the first is to generate revenue to support a local program that focuses on integration and inclusion of both sides, refugees and local residents; the second is to offer an insight into a journey taken by many people in the present time, before they become refugees.

Mission

Sytale is committed to crafting meaningful experiences that entertain and enrich our audience’s life. We build dynamic worlds around real human experiences to give insights into human conditions and struggles. We care about the world, so we build bridges through our games. It is our mission to entertain without being didactic and to support causes that make the world a better place.

Vision

Sytale is working towards establishing a self-sustained foundation that supports refugees’ integration and eventual inclusion into the welcoming Milwaukee community. Our aim is to work closely with Milwaukee residents to create a safe and stable environment for the new Americans. By telling their tale through our games, we give them a voice and empower them to move forward and build a productive community. We help them so they help others.
