Bio

Abby Bruckner is a Design and Visual Communication senior at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. In addition to her education, she seeks to expand her knowledge and experience through external paths, pursuing freelance opportunities for independent businesses, individuals and causes, and carrying out a UX/UI Design internship for UW-Milwaukee’s Student Affairs IT Services.

With focus on motion and narrative, Abby finds herself inspired by human connection and environmental interaction. She sees visual design not only as the ability to effectively establish an aesthetic, but also as an opportunity to establish a relationship, whether that relationship exists with people, situations or surroundings. The average day holds so many moments of interaction, and Abby considers design as a chance to innovatively enhance those moments in an effort to connect and improve lives.

Description

Via Lightways is a community-based wayfinding system that connects neighborhoods through the safety of illuminated pathways and the power of art. Via begins with innovative, solar-charged luminescent paints paired with a community-based app that invites members to create and share unique or predesigned sidewalk patterns. Through our illumination systems, we help diminish nighttime dark spots in community walking areas. The Via app further connects your community through dedicated galleries and a neighborhood locator. At Via, we see a future of safer nighttime walking through environmentally-integrated, eco-friendly and community-based illumination.

Mission

Our mission at Via Lightways is to boost neighborhood safety through innovative illumination systems that help diminish nighttime dark spots of community sidewalks and walking pathways. We seek to create eco-friendly lighting opportunities that engage communities while providing night visibility to pedestrians.
