BOSS provides walking escorts and van transportation to UWM as a core component of UWM’s commitment to Campus safety. Boss Functions to promote a safe environment for members of the UWM community to live, work, and study.
Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research
Established in 2012, the Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research moves UWM to the next level by improving the student civic and leadership experience through a holistic and seamless approach to community engagement. Overall, the Center will ensure greater impact and success in UWM fullfilling its civic mission and providing well-developed leaders for our communities. Center for Inclusive Excellence (IEC)
The IEC is a student-centered office and its mission is to promote student development and engage the campus community on the topics of diversity, equity and social justice. The IEC fosters peer-to-peer connections and intercultural engagement. It is home to U1.0, UWM’s first-generation community, cross-cultural development, UWM DREAMers, and the Lawton Scholars Award. The IEC aspires to Include. Engage. Connect.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center (LGBTRC)
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resource Center is a student-inspired & funded office. The LGBTRC serves all UWM students; including LGBT students and their allies, works to create an inclusive and diverse campus climate at UWM, increases the visibility of LGBT culture, communities, and issues on campus. The LGBTRC hosts UWM’s Safe Space Program, supports the UWM LGBT Studies Certificate Program, works to foster students’ personal, academic, and professional growth. LGBTRC also hosts UWM’s Lavender Graduation.
Military & Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC)
MAVRC (pronounced “maverick”) is the first-stop for military veterans, their families, and community supporters to have their questions answered and find the resources needed for success on campus. Services are available for all members of the UWM community–staff, faculty, alumni, and family members interested in learning more about military service. The Student Lounge and Study Room in MAVRC offers student veterans the opportunity to meet and connect with others who have served in a safe, veteran-friendly environment. MAVRC is complete with a kitchenette, complimentary coffee, laptops, phone chargers, internet access, and lounge chairs. Stop in to relax, unwind, and meet some of the 1,000+ UW-Milwaukee student veterans.
Student Involvement (SI)
As part of the Student Union, Student Involvement aspires to get every student at UWM involved in co-curricular experiences that are fun, thought provoking, will help you develop a new skill, or explore something new in the world around you. Students get the most from their college experience when they join one of over 300 student organizations, a fraternity or sorority, or find a place in our spiritual or religious communities. Take advantage of our leadership development offerings, Sociocultural programs, the UWM Bucket List, Arts and Entertainment, or check out our campus traditions like Geek Week and Panther Fest.
