UWM is at the leading edge of research and education in data science. It’s exactly what you’d expect from an institution designated as a Research 1 university by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Faculty members from academic fields across campus are performing research that takes advantage of the best practices involving data science.

We’ve applied data science to examine advertising and consumer behavior for business and economics studies. Data science has parsed important details in disciplines as diverse as geographical sciences, social media, languages and natural language processing. It’s helped us better understand computer vision and image processing, and it’s being used in many other subject areas.
