Coronavirus update: Over $75,000 in emergency grants distributed

Emergency grants distributed

We know the coronavirus pandemic has created new financial challenges for many students. UWM is doing its best to help with emergency grants, low-cost and loaner laptops and distributions through the UWM Food Center & Pantry. Thus far, over $75,000 in emergency grants has been distributed to more than 100 students through the Dean of Students Office. We know the need is far greater, and the university’s Development team continues to raise money for additional grants. Students can apply for grants here.

Students who have already applied for grants can check on the status of their application by emailing

Volunteer from home

The Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research has created a list of volunteer opportunities that follow social distancing guidelines so you help others while staying safe. Current opportunities include online tutoring, remote mentoring of refugees and checking in on senior citizens by phone. Check the center’s website regularly as the list of opportunities is updated each week.
