What if my placement site requires COVID-19 vaccination or testing?

October 21, 2021

UWM is committed to preparing students for success beyond the classroom through educational opportunities provided by clinical placements, field placements and other external internship sites.

The public health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic may pose challenges for staff and students seeking placements. Many placement sites for students already — or will soon — require vaccination and/or testing as a condition of placement.

Students are expected to comply with a placement site’s vaccination and testing requirements. Those students who don’t comply may not be able to successfully complete their UWM program or do so in a timely manner.

Some students may wish to seek medical or religious exemption from vaccination and/or testing requirements at a placement site. It is the responsibility of the student to seek such an exemption directly from the site and to ultimately comply with the site’s requirements if an exemption is not granted.

If an exemption is granted with additional or alternative restrictions, students must comply with these restrictions. Receiving medical or religious exemption from a placement site does not exempt a student from any UWM-related vaccination/testing requirements and vice versa.
