Do I need to receive a booster shot to be exempt from weekly testing for COVID-19?

February 7, 2022

No. UWM students and employees can be exempted from weekly testing by providing proof of full vaccination — meaning the primary series of COVID-19 vaccine, plus 14 days. A primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine is two doses, while it’s one dose for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. (Report your full vaccination here.)

In addition, those who have tested positive for COVID-19 with a PCR test and reported it may be exempt from testing for 90 days from the date of the initial positive test result. (Report your test result here.)

UWM’s Interim COVID-Related Health and Safety Policy requires that unvaccinated students and employees be tested weekly for COVID-19. It’s highly recommended that those requiring weekly testing use the free testing available on each UWM campus.

All students and employees must make an appointment at uwmke.vivi.healthcare.

See this FAQ for more details about testing on UWM campuses.
