UWM’s federal work-study earn and learn program launches in Fall 2021. This program develops natural pathways for post-graduation employment through paid internships at a broad variety of industries in the Milwaukee area. Through this program, UWM students work with UWM business and nonprofit partners in part-time internship positions with wages supplemented by federal work-study dollars. The work experiences in this program are enhanced by an on-campus learning component. Interns are required to take an internship course for credit, or participate in structured co-curricular reflection opportunities. Typically, students in the program work between 8 to 12 hours per week for an entire academic year, and earn between $10 and $14.50 per hour. Students must be eligible for federal work-study to participate in the program.
