DIY River & Park Clean Up

June 14, 2021 - August 31, 2021

The UWM community, in its commitment to the well being of people and place in southeastern Wisconsin and beyond, will host a DIY River Clean Up this summer. Individuals and families are encouraged to participate, spending an hour or two exploring the banks of the Milwaukee River and collecting any garbage along the way sometime during the days that work best for them this summer. Supplies to participate in the event are available including latex gloves, garbage bags, and garbage pickers. Participants will be given supply pick up instructions once they register.

To make this event even more fun, and safe for your family, our partners at Milwaukee Riverkeeper have designed an app to keep track of the trash collected. Click here to register!

Download and check out the CleanSwell app here!

The Milwaukee Riverkeeper DIY Spring Clean Up Pledge can be found at the link provided and will also be sent to you once you register. We encourage you to do this with your family, as there will be no gathering. Please sign up, let us know if you need supplies, and if you have a transportation to get to an assigned section of the river (if not we will assign you an area close to your home).

This event is co-sponsored by the UWM Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research and Milwaukee Riverkeeper. Please reach out with questions to Leah Badke at badke@uwm.edu or simply register here!

We also have an Adopt-A-River and Park Clean Up coming up at Caesar Park on Friday, August 6th. Click here to learn more and sign up to volunteer!
