UWM adheres to all federal, state, and local civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination in employment and education. UWM does not discriminate in its admissions practices, in its employment practices, or in its educational programs or activities on the basis of sex. UWM is required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 to ensure that all of its programs and activities do not discriminate on the basis of sex and in compliance with Title IX, UWM will not tolerate discrimination or harassing conduct that is based on sex, or any other protected status.
UWM prohibits sex-based discrimination and will respond to all reports of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and sexual violence (including assault, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and sexual exploitation) with care and support.
UWM’s Title IX Office receives reports of sexual misconduct involving the UWM community, coordinates supportive measures, provides information about response options, and conducts related investigations. All of these duties are guided by a trauma-informed approach that also embraces principles of equity and ensures due process. This website is designed to be a resource for students, faculty, and staff on issues relating to sexual misconduct and sex-based discrimination, including options for getting help, UWM’s policies regarding sexual misconduct, and how to report a concern.
