Bronzeville Charette

In December of 2013, CDS hosted the Bronzeville Charette with the primary goal to develop designs that would highlight the neighborhood as an African American arts, entertainment, and cultural district. The charette has generated more the $200 million in built or planned investment. Local architects, developers, property owners, lenders, artists, Business Improvement District members, city staff and officials, and many others gathered together to discuss and develop concepts for six sites that would revitalize the neighborhood. Concepts included new housing, a hotel, cultural center, entertainment, retail, neighborhood grocery, and a variety of public spaces. Architectural teams included:
