A lyrical documentary that explores the veiled story of Mexico’s Japanese diaspora and the enduring impact of history’s silences. The film pairs testimonies with archival images, landscapes, and choreography to question the theatricality of individual and collective identity formation. When all that’s left of history is memories, how are invisible wounds healed? Yūrei traverses different regions of Mexico to bring life to story and silence alike.
