Digital Humanities employs information technologies to research and present humanities topics in innovative and engaging ways. With the availability of free authoring tools, educators can draw from openly accessible digital collections of maps, images and other primary sources to create multimedia classroom resources.<\/p>\n

Digital Collections<\/strong> (UWM Libraries), in collaboration with the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS), UW-Milwaukee<\/strong>, will offer a free, three-session workshop series focused on one such digital humanities tool: the Knight Lab\u2019s StorymapJS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Participants will learn tool basics and will explore the incredibly rich world of open access digital collections of Latin American Studies primary sources. In the last session, we will create a place-based narrative, using a primary resource held in the UWM American Geographical Society Library\u2014an indigenous document from Oaxaca, Mexico.<\/p>\n
