The Sidewalk School exists to provide quality education to migrant children who would go without as they experience displacement at the U.S.-Mexico border. Initially developed for the Matamoros Tent City, The Sidewalk School now operates in six Mexican cities. The teachers, themselves migrants, create lesson plans, teach classes, and provide support to students who are in need.
Sponsored by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) and the Institute of World Affairs/Center for International Education (CIE), University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. CLACS and CIE are Title VI National Resource Centers with funding from the U.S. Department of Education
