Campus engagement helps expand social networks and improve cultural understanding, leading to successful adjustment to U.S. higher education. We encourage you to expose yourself to various opportunities for development.
International Mentor Program
This program provides a bridge for international students to the UWM campus community. Mentors help new international students with adjustment, encourage involvement in on-campus activities, and further intercultural understanding.
Are you a new UWM international student who wants a Mentor? The program is open to all new UWM international students, but freshmen are given the highest priority.
Apply to be a Mentee here.
Are you a current UWM student who wants to be a Mentor? The program is open to both U.S. and international students who want to help new international students adjust to life in the U.S. and at UWM. If you have been enrolled at UWM for at least 2 semesters, you are eligible to apply to be a Mentor.
- International mentors bring their mentees to on-campus events so they can experience the diversity and inclusion in UWM community.
- International mentors expand mentees’ social network and bring them better cultural understanding.
- International mentors provide assistance in CIE orientation, CIE Welcome Week activities, and International Education Month.
