Arrival to Campus

Arriving to campus is an exciting event for new students. It is important to note that F-1 students can enter the U.S. no earlier than 30 days prior to the start date that is listed on the I-20. Please make sure that you arrive in time for orientations and pre-semester events, and that you submit an early arrival form to University Housing if you are living in University Housing residence halls (Sandburg, Purin, Riverview, or Cambridge Commons) or Kenilworth Square Apartments.

To assist you with transportation from either Chicago O’Hare International Airport or Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport, we have scheduled UWM Panther Pick Up on dates before new student orientations. If you aren’t able to take advantage of Panther Pick Up, please see the other resources at the bottom of this page which can assist you in getting to campus.

When to Arrive

Fall 2018 Arrival

Undergraduate students should arrive on or by August 24, 2018, a date that corresponds with our UWM Panther Pick Up at Chicago O’Hare Airport.

Graduate students with teaching/research/project assistantships should arrive no later than Sunday, August 19, 2018. UWM Panther Pick Up at Chicago O’Hare Airport will be available on Friday, August 17, 2018.

Graduate students without assistantships should arrive to campus by Wednesday, August 22, 2018. UWM Staff will provide assistance with arrival via UWM Panther Pick Up on Friday, August 17, 2018 from Chicago O’Hare airport. Arrival assistance will be available from Milwaukee airport only on Wednesday, August 21.

If you will live in University Housing, you will need to complete an early arrival form. Because of international student orientation and placement testing, international students must arrive in the U.S. before the residence halls are open for move-in. To apply for early arrival, you will need to fill out an early arrival form and submit it to the UWM University Housing Office by email, fax, or mail. There is a charge per night for staying in the residence halls prior to the general move-in date. The deadline to apply for early arrival is January 1 for spring semesters and August 1 for fall semesters.
