The national program is a paid research internship for high school students with an interest in chemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Program participants work with faculty mentors and graduate students on authentic chemistry-related research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In summer 2026, we will offer interdisciplinary research projects in the following areas: computational, biochemistry \/ drug discovery, environmental \/ water chemistry, and molecular biophysics \/ biochemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Program Coordinator: <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/chemistry\/about\/directory\/blecking-anja\/\">Dr. Anja Blecking<\/a> (<a href=\"mailto:blecking@uwm.edu\">blecking@uwm.edu<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Apply between February 9th and April 2nd, 2026, at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/education\/students\/highschool\/seed\/apply.html\">https:\/\/www.acs.org\/education\/students\/highschool\/seed\/apply.html<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"alignright uwm-c-img--right\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\" alt=\"\" class=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-summer-2026-program-dates\">Summer 2026 Program Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 16 (Tuesday) &#8211; August 7, 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-project-seed\">What is Project SEED?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Project SEED started in 1968 and has grown and diversified its services of providing hands-on summer research experiences (8 \u2013 10 weeks) and virtual summer camps to more than 11,000 students in 40 U.S. states and territories.&nbsp; Each year, the program supports 350+ students with research opportunities with qualified mentors in both academia and industry, as well as providing a virtual summer camp to students focusing on college readiness and professional development, lab preparedness, and exposure to chemistry-related career paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/education\/students\/highschool\/seed.html\">https:\/\/www.acs.org\/education\/students\/highschool\/seed.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-project-seed-mission\">Project SEED Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The program&#8217;s mission is to provide sustained STEM research, learning, and growth opportunities for high school students with diverse identities and socioeconomic backgrounds so they can be empowered to advance and enrich the chemical science enterprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UW-Milwaukee is the first ACS Project SEED site in Wisconsin!
