Finding Grace This Holiday Season

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

For many, gratitude has a different feel this year. While we look forward to spending more time in person with loved ones and a greater degree of normalcy, caution is still needed, and self-care is of the utmost importance.

Finding grace during this season of giving provides opportunities to be grateful in new and renewed ways. Making time to be still and breathe deep. Spending more time outdoors. Looking for the best in everyone – and yourself. Focusing each day on those people and things for which you are thankful; this is something I cherish. Leaning on others when you need help.

Personally, I valued your support this past year after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I am extremely grateful to be in remission today and for the warm encouragement I received from so many of you. I know it’s not easy to ask for help but please don’t be afraid to reach out when you need support. Panthers care for one another.

More than ever, I ask that you please take good care of yourselves, family, and others as we find new ways to help you to do so.

From my family to you and your loved ones, I hope your holiday of thanks is special this year, and that you take the time to be extra kind to yourself.

Best regards,
