Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

I am pleased to announce that Katie Miota will serve as the Interim Chief Enrollment Officer (CEO), effective this month, until a permanent CEO is hired. The CEO reports directly to me and serves as a campus leader providing vision, policy direction and operational oversight of the newly-formed division of enrollment management which includes:

• Career Planning and Resource Center
• Financial Aid
• Registrar’s Office
• Student Success Center
• Trio/Pre-College programs
• Undergraduate Admissions
Katie will oversee all enrollment management units except Trio/Pre-College programs which will continue to report to Academic Affairs until a permanent CEO is hired. We will conduct a recruitment for a permanent CEO later this year.

Katie brings 13 years of experience to the position, including eight years in UWM’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions (OUA) which leads UWM’s campus-wide efforts to recruit and enroll undergraduate students. She has been the Director of OUA since 2016 and the Associate Director for the prior three years. In leadership roles in OUA, Katie has served as co-chair, along with Provost Johannes Britz, of the Chancellor’s Enrollment Management Action Team and advanced UWM’s first Strategic Enrollment Management plan. She previously worked on student recruitment from the school and college perspective within the Peck School of the Arts. Katie has an impressive record of attracting and enrolling students and managing complex campus-wide initiatives which makes her an excellent addition to UWM’s leadership team.

Please join me in congratulating Katie on her new appointment.

Best regards,
