Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,
This significant development allows us to launch the official integration of our three campuses. I am excited about the tremendous opportunities ahead. We will continue to provide access to high quality academic programs, while also delivering seamless transfer to a four-year degree, offering more academic and career options to students, and addressing local needs and strengthening partnerships in our region and Wisconsin. I am grateful for the tremendous efforts of over 160 talented faculty and staff from our three campuses who have collaborated on the operational details for the consolidation. The work of these groups will continue as we transition in the coming year. Areas of focus include academic programs, budget, enrollment, facilities, governance, human resources, IT, marketing, student information systems, student services and others.
One of our first actions, pursuant to UW System direction, is to establish names for the branch campuses. Based on input from Waukesha and Washington County students and stakeholders, next month UWM will submit a request for the two-year campuses to be known as University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Waukesha and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Washington County, respectively. Signage on the branch campuses will also utilize “Waukesha Campus” and “Washington County Campus”. The Board will review our naming request in August. For the latest updates on this development and more, please see our Restructuring web site.
Look for more updates as developments continue to occur. I look forward to working with all of you to make the newly restructured UWM a success for our students, region and beyond.
Best regards,
Chancellor
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
