Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Katie Miota as UWM’s Chief Enrollment Officer (CEO), effective this month. Katie has served as the Interim CEO since March 2018. The CEO reports directly to me and provides vision, policy direction and operational oversight to enroll the optimal mix of students who are successful at UWM, including their graduation.

Katie will lead the following units in the division of enrollment management:

  • Career Planning and Resource Center
  • Financial Aid
  • Registrar’s Office
  • Student Success Center
  • TRIO/Pre-College programs
  • Undergraduate Admissions

This year Katie demonstrated skillful leadership in managing the complex changes in operations and systems needed for UWM to provide recruitment, registration, financial aid and other services to students at our new Washington County and Waukesha campuses. She also led efforts resulting in impressive growth in UWM’s fall 2018 enrollments of Illinois and transfer students.

With eight years in UWM’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions and two years as a recruiter in the Peck School of the Arts, Katie is well poised to lead our institution-wide enrollment efforts. As CEO, she will lead the Chancellor’s Enrollment Management Action Team (CEMAT), which is advancing UWM’s inaugural Strategic Enrollment Management plan and creating data dashboards to measure our performance in retention and graduate rates and other metrics.

Success in enrollment management is critical to UWM’s future. Please join me in congratulating Katie on her new appointment.

Best regards,

Mark A. Mone
