Chancellor’s Update: Presidential Debate on Feb. 11

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I hope you, friends, and family had a restful and enjoyable holiday season. While not all of the UWM community is yet back on campus, I have an important update about the Democratic presidential candidate debate that will be held on campus next month. This is likely the first of several messages that will include logistical details about the event.

The Public Broadcast System (PBS) will sponsor the first Democratic presidential candidate debate following the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary on Thursday, February 11, at 8 p.m. in our Helen Bader Concert Hall within the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts. This is a significant opportunity to showcase our campus to the world.

As the sponsor of the event, PBS will distribute tickets to the debate, but they have not yet released information on this process. UWM has requested an allotment of tickets from PBS for UWM students, faculty, staff, alumni, community supporters, and donors but do not yet have confirmed details to our inquiry.

As a public institution, UWM does not endorse or promote any political candidates. We do encourage students, faculty and staff to educate themselves about all candidates and to participate in our nation’s political process.

Best regards,

Mark A. Mone
