Teaching for Multicultural Inclusion and Equity – Workshop and Certificate Program
To support effective teaching of UWM’s diverse student body, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning developed a three-session workshop series and certificate program in collaboration with partners from the UWM Multicultural Network.
The primary goals of this program are to:
- Inform about racial and cultural diversity at UWM
- Foster awareness of the impact of identity on teaching and learning
- Equip instructors to integrate inclusive teaching practices into their courses
Instructors who complete the workshop will be prepared to create an inclusive course syllabus and to facilitate classroom activities and assessments that promote equitable participation and positive learning outcomes. Those who wish to also earn a professional development certificate will be invited to submit for review a written self-reflection and sample inclusive teaching materials.
Teaching for Multicultural Inclusion and Equity is open to all UWM faculty, teaching academic staff, adjunct instructors, and graduate student teaching assistants. We encourage teachers from all academic disciplines to participate. We are also committed to ensuring this workshop is fully accessible to all participants, and when you register you will be able to alert us to any needed accommodations.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is temporarily on hold while CETL staff are working remotely and in-person gatherings on campus are limited. We are developing a fully online version of the workshop, which can be completed in either a self-paced or cohort model. This online workshop should be available by Fall 2021.
