Catarino David Delgado, also known as David, is a seasoned professional in the field of information technology. He currently serves as UWM’s Learning Management System Administrator and Digital Learning Environment Coordinator. David champions the thoughtful use of technology to enhance teaching and learning initiatives. He administers the university's Canvas learning management system and is responsible for coordinating the integration of new tools into the Digital Learning Environment. A key facet of his role includes advising the CETL Director on the impact of current and emerging IT initiatives as they relate to teaching and learning, helping to shape the strategic direction of these initiatives at the university.
As the university's liaison to UW System Administration for Digital Learning Environment matters, he works closely with Academic Affairs, and UWM IT to ensure the quality of service for the learning technologies that CETL administers. His work involves extensive collaboration with staff, departmental leadership, and university leadership to facilitate initiatives related to teaching, learning, and academic technology. David leads the Teaching and Learning Support stakeholder community, facilitating communication regarding projects, initiatives, and services, all in the service of advancing the university's educational mission. In addition to these responsibilities, David serves as a key project manager at CETL, where he leads enterprise and instruction-focused projects and acts as a general IT and project consultant to his CETL colleagues.
Before assuming his current role, David held multiple positions within the University of Wisconsin System, including roles as a D2L Site Administrator, software developer, webmaster, and business automation specialist. In these roles, he supported and consulted on the use of various learning technologies, executed information technology and web projects, and developed learning tools, applications, and middleware. His exceptional work was recognized with the 2009 Academic Staff Excellence Award for Non-Instructional Staff from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from UW-Whitewater. His areas of expertise are broad and varied, encompassing instructional technology, server administration, web architecture, online audio/video, social technologies, collaborative tools, and communication. This wealth of experience, coupled with his commitment to enhancing teaching and learning through the thoughtful use of technology, makes him a vital asset to CETL and the broader university community.
