CETL is committed to supporting instructors in creating inclusive, accessible learning environments. We provide hands-on technical support via an Accessiblity Workshop Series for making content accessible in Canvas, Kaltura, and Zoom in alignment with WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Instructors can join our Accessibility Workshop Series to explore practical strategies for designing accessible digital content. In addition, CETL’s Accessibility Checklist serves as a practical guide for applying accessibility best practices to course materials.

Once Canvas courses are automatically created, you can request to combine multiple section sites into one or split a single site into separate sections.

e.g. One Canvas course site exists for both lecture and lab sections, but you would like each section separated in Canvas. Four individual Canvas course sites exist for your four lab sections, but you would like all of your labs accessed from the lecture Canvas course site.

Note: No changes can be made after a course is published.

During your individual consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your teaching goals with an experienced educational consultant, who will work with you to develop strategies and solutions based on your specific needs. Our consultants can also provide guidance and training on the use of teaching & learning technologies to enhance your teaching and improve student learning. We offer individual consultations on various topics, such as:

University administrators can use this form to request for an announcement to be placed on the Canvas Dashboard. Once the request is submitted, it will be reviewed by a Canvas Administrator, and a member of Academic Affairs leadership to ensure it meets the following guidelines:

• The announcement must promote information that contributes to student success.
• The announcement must be of a university-wide nature.
• Canvas is not the only method used to reach the target audience.
• The initiative or project prompting the announcement must be managed by staff at UWM or UW Administration.

Canvas courses are automatically created 60 days prior to the start of the course. You can request additional types of Canvas courses such as:

• Blueprint Courses – Specialized template courses set up to automatically copy its contents to multiple courses. Changes made to a blueprint course will sync to its associated courses.
• Continuing Education Courses – For credit and non-credit certificates and community development.
• Sandbox Courses – For creating course templates, experimenting with Canvas, and organizing course content. Sandboxes can be used to share content with other instructors without compromising student data.
• Supplemental Courses – For student-oriented non-credit courses.
• Training/Development Courses – For professional development and non-academic student cohorts.

CETL provides technical support to instructors and their TAs in their use of teaching and learning technology tools such as Canvas, Zoom, My Media, Hypothesis, and more. The following is a complete list of tools CETL supports.

Lecture capture technology allows instructors to record themselves as they are delivering live lectures in certain classrooms on campus. All General Assignment and many department-managed classrooms on campus have Kaltura Classroom Capture (UWM’s lecture capture tool). Kaltura Classroom Capture allows instructors to make scheduled and ad-hoc lecture recordings.

The UWM Helpdesk provides technical support for campus-wide tools that are not specific to teaching and learning technology, such as Microsoft Teams, Office 365, Outlook, passwords, and more.
