{"id":1695,"date":"2023-10-02T11:17:48","date_gmt":"2023-10-02T16:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/?p=1695"},"modified":"2024-05-08T09:10:19","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T14:10:19","slug":"center-for-water-policy-welcomes-three-new-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/center-for-water-policy-welcomes-three-new-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Center for Water Policy Welcomes Three New Staff\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Center for Water Policy enters an exciting phase as it welcomes three new staff: <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/freshwater\/people\/sutherland-cora\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cora Sutherland<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/freshwater\/people\/grewal-rajpreet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rajpreet Grewal<\/a>, the third cohort of postdoctoral water policy specialists through the UW Sea Grant Water Science-Policy Fellows Program, alongside the appointment of <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/freshwater\/people\/cross-erin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Erin Cross<\/a> as the Center&#8217;s inaugural full-time Assistant Director. \u201cWe\u2019re really excited to continue expanding our research capacity with Cora and Rajpreet joining the team while also increasing our ability to compete for grants, improve community engagement, and pursue our mission with Erin as Assistant Director,\u201d said Melissa Scanlan, director for the Center and the Lynde B. Uihlein Endowed Chair and professor in water policy.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the next year, Cora and Rajpreet will produce original legal research and work with the Center\u2019s external partners to analyze U.S. water issues to evaluate policy options and inform decision makers. This fellowship is intended to provide recent law school graduates with critical experience in the field of academic research and water policy development.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/667\/2023\/09\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1610\" style=\"width:149px;height:149px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Cora earned a Juris Doctorate at the University of Oregon Law School and Rajpreet earned a Juris Doctorate and Master of Science in Water Management at the University of Wisconsin. Cora is excited to bring her prior experiences in renewable energy and environmental policy to create equitable solutions to emerging water and energy challenges in the Great Lakes and Mississippi River Basins.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/667\/2023\/09\/Rajpreet-Grewal-200x200-1.jpg\" alt=\"Rajpreet Grewal\" class=\"wp-image-1449\" style=\"width:150px;height:150px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/667\/2023\/09\/Rajpreet-Grewal-200x200-1.jpg 200w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/667\/2023\/09\/Rajpreet-Grewal-200x200-1-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Rajpreet will be managing the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/uw-water-policy-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Freshwater Collaborative System Water Policy Network<\/a>, with support from the <a href=\"https:\/\/freshwater.wisconsin.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m eager to bring my connections within the University of Wisconsin System to expand collaboration within the Water Policy Network,\u201d said Rajpreet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"192\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/centerforwaterpolicy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/667\/2023\/09\/Headshot-Erin-Cross-e1695057583173.jpg\" alt=\"Erin Cross headshot\" class=\"wp-image-1441\" style=\"width:158px;height:165px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Erin Cross brings her impressive 20-year background in management and administration to the Center as the Assistant Director. She previously served as the director of the Recreation Department with the City of New Berlin.
